25 Nov MUSIC SOOTHES THE SAVAGE BEAST
“AFTER SILENCE, THAT WHICH COMES NEAREST TO
EXPRESSING THE INEXPRESSIBLE IS MUSIC.”
I don’t know if you have noticed it yet but the Christmas season is here. What that means to me is it is time for some great Cowboy Christmas Music. Where would you go to see the best Cowboy Christmas Music in Kansas? Well there are a couple of places.
After the Greensburg tornado the town has done a fabulous job of rebuilding and one of the treasures of the town, as well as Central Kansas, is the Twilight Theater. Located at 200 S. Main the theater is a state of the art performance center. They have a regular movie schedule and also live performances.
On December 17 at 7:30 PM The Diamond W Wranglers will perform A Cowboy Christmas with the Chisholm Trail Orchestra. This is going to be a fun night with Jim Farrell, Stu Stuart, Steve Crawford, and Chip Worthington with a ten piece orchestra.
The Wranglers are one of the greatest Cowboy bands in the country and have performed from Carnegie Hall, Germany, and the Great Hall of China. They are a Kansas favorite and if you want to take a group or just the kids, this is your chance for a great holiday celebration.
To order tickets for the show call 620-723-1092 or go to the Twilight Theater website and click on the tickets button online.
Another great Christmas show is with the Prairie Rose Rangers at the Prairie Rose Chuck Wagon Supper. Orin and the gang will serve you supper and then celebrate Christmas with you. Located at 15231 SW Parallel, Benton KS. Go off US 254 and follow the signs to the ranch. Call 316-788-2121 or go to their website and order tickets. Dates: Dec. 2,9,11,16,17,&18.
At the Prairie Rose also you can catch Kim Coslett on Dec. 8 & 15. She is doing A CLASSIC COUNTRY CHRISTMAS. It is a guaranteed good time.
You can catch Barry Ward at the Manor of the Plains, 200 Campus in Dodge City for his Christmas Concert December 16th. Barry has been a long favorite in Kansas and a former Male Vocalist of the Year for the Western Music Association. Call Lisa Montoya for time and information at 620-225-1928
Barry will also be at the Buck Creek Country Church on December 21, at 600 PM for his Christmas show. This is East of Perry, KS on Hwy, 24 about 6 miles. Contact Lisa Bond for information at 785-580-8374.
Up at the Lazy T Ranch east of Manhattan our state Cowboy Lariat Ron Wilson will be hosting an arts, crafts, and gift fair on Saturday December 10th. Call 785-537-9727 for information. You might catch Ron reciting some cowboy poetry but darn sure telling some good stories when you visit with him.
The Christmas season is always better with a little cowboy entertainment. There are many opportunities all over the state. I will see you in Greensburg good Lord willing and the creeks don’t rise.
